See you all at the IRC judging session this weekend. Yes, we will be having one!
Sev Space contest: Cameo (TERMINATOR SALVATION SPOILERS)

This week's Sev Space Contest spoofs the Terminator Salvation movie that I saw this week. What with the low Rotten Tomatoes rating, I had the expectation levels set fairly low. Consequently, I quite enjoyed the film (hell, cyborgs from the future, it'd have to be a complete stinker for me not to love it). My favourite moment was a completely unexpected cameo from Arnie himself, all CGIed to look his youthful 80's self! Great Terminator moment. Also amusing was how the nude Arnie managed to get through an entire fight scene with Christian Bale without earning the film a more adult rating. It required obscuring a la Austin Powers with steam, shadow and various objects managing to get in the way.

A Time To Laugh, now in technocolour (well, some of them)

Auspac Media have asked me to start colouring A Time To Laugh which is a huge amount of work but well, if I hadn't been too lazy to colour them initially, I wouldn't be in this predicament now. So I've started by colouring some of the highest rating A Time To Laugh cartoons. I have to admit, it was fun colouring The Last Supper to match Da Vinci's fresco. And Red Sea crossing was always meant to be in colour.

Winning punchline for Mother memories

A clear winner has emerged so I've just posted the winning punchline (written by Doc) for the Sev Wars cartoon that explains how Princess Leer can remember a mother who died at her birth.

Added new Pits category: Global warming

I've been doing some housekeeping, creating a new Pits category Global Warming for the current storyline. Initially, I thought having Lance decry global warming as a hoax perpetrated by scientists was doing his character a disservice. I mean, you'd have to be tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorist to think nutty stuff like the government would stage the moon landing. Or that the military would hide a Roswell alien landing. On the other hand, those kind of secrets could plausibly be contained to just a select few. But that people genuinely believe climate scientists in countries all over the world would all falsify their data, collaborate underhandedly with their colleagues and lie in their peer reviewed research just boggles my mind. Nevertheless yesterday, I heard a Republican congressman claim that "human induced global climate change is one of the greatest hoaxes perpetrated out of the scientific community". And he was applauded by other Republican congressmen. These are elected representatives of the people. Lance would be proud.

Revoting required for Princess Leer's memories

The webvote for Princess Leer's memories of her mother is deadlocked. So to break the deadlock, can I ask that you all head over to the webvote page and revote for one of the front-runners? Eg - if you voted for one of the punchlines languishing at the bottom of the pile, click the 'change your vote' link and vote for one of the frontrunners. Hopefully a clear winner will emerge.

Also apologies but things got away from me this week and I didn't get time to draw a new cartoon for the Sev Space Contest. So the contest will be extended a week and there'll be no judging session this weekend.
